Your Business is Real Business!

Stop downplaying your hustle

Queen, here’s your reminder as we step into this new week: what you’re building is valid, valuable, and necessary. Valid — because your dream doesn’t need permission to exist. Valuable — because it carries solutions and impact, even if it’s just one person at a time. Necessary — because the world is waiting for what only you can bring.

So, stop downplaying your business. Own it. Nurture it. Build it with confidence — because your business is real business.

Writer's Column

I’ve noticed how often women minimize what they’re doing — “Oh, it’s just a small business,” or “I’m just trying something.” But here’s the truth: there’s nothing “just” about building something from scratch, showing up for it daily, and serving people through it. Your business is real business, even if it’s still in its early days.

It deserves the same level of commitment, systems, excellence, and respect as any “big” company. The more seriously you treat your business, the more others will take it seriously too.

Your business is real business — say it, believe it, and build like it.

Rooting for you,

Sese

  • Stop saying “just”: Replace “I run a small business” with “I run a business.”
  • Invest in structure: Create systems (bookkeeping, customer care, branding) that reflect professionalism.
  • Show up consistently: Whether it’s one client or one hundred, show up with excellence.
  • Value your time & work: Don’t underprice yourself because you want approval.
